First flight of NOGEPA Medevac Helicopter

March 27, 2020

During these challenging times shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Bel Air are proud to support the health and safety of offshore personnel through a strong collaboration with NOGEPA, Den Helder Airport, and operators across the Dutch sector.

In close cooperation with NOGEPA, Bel Air has deployed a dedicated medevac helicopter to support offshore platforms in the Dutch North Sea sector. This helicopter is specifically tasked with transporting personnel who may show symptoms of COVID-19 and are deemed fit to travel by air under non-critical conditions. If the offshore medical support determines that a transfer to shore is necessary, Bel Air ensures safe and secure transportation to Den Helder Airport, where comprehensive protocols are in place to manage such cases responsibly.

It’s important to note that all life-threatening medical emergencies will continue to be handled by the local Search and Rescue helicopter services.

Yesterday afternoon, we carried out the first official medevac flight from Den Helder. We are pleased to report that the individual was transported safely and efficiently, and we wish them a full and swift recovery.

Every precaution has been taken by Bel Air, Den Helder Airport, and our industry partners to minimize the risk of virus transmission during such operations. The health and safety of all passengers, crew, and staff remains our top priority.

We are proud to contribute to this essential effort and remain committed to doing our part in overcoming this global health crisis—together.

Stay safe,
Susanne Hessellund
