We are proud to share that Susanne Hessellund, founder and Managing Director of Bel Air Aviation, has been featured in a portrait series by local artist Agnete Brinch celebrating “Strong Women.”
Susanne was chosen for her remarkable perseverance and trailblazing achievements in the aviation industry. She pursued her dream of becoming a helicopter pilot—becoming the first woman to fly offshore for Maersk Helicopters—and went on to establish Bel Air Aviation, a company providing offshore helicopter services across the North Sea region.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Susanne has been a passionate advocate for gender equality in the workplace. She actively promotes the idea that women should be able to pursue ambitious careers while also raising families. As a mother of six children and two bonus children, Susanne has successfully balanced a demanding career with a strong and present family life.
The portrait of Susanne is part of a special exhibition at Esbjerg Museum, where four of the featured portraits were recently unveiled. To mark the occasion, Sigma Wine & Cocktails created four unique cocktails inspired by each of the women portrayed. One of them, fittingly named “Bel Air Aviation,” is made with Aviation Gin. It features a striking blue color with candyfloss and a golden star garnish—symbolizing the sky, clouds, and the heights of achievement.
